A BOBBIES JOB

WEBSITE OF THE

Paterson Family

to

 The PATERSON Clan

Website.

We originate in the Berwickshire

   area of Scotland.

                        but are now split between

there and the

South East Lancashire area of England.

So why "A BOBBIES JOB" you might ask.  Well  I'm Jim and I went from Duns in Berwickshire to join Oldham Borough Police in 1962.   In 1969, following an amalgamation of many forces, Oldham Police became part of Lancashire Constabulary and, after a second round of amalgamations in 1974, I became a member of Greater Manchester Police.  When I retired in 1993 I was the Assistant Chief Constable (Crime Operations) and had been a Detective for 30 years.    Both my sons, Ian and Colin, are now serving Police Officers in Greater Manchester.

In April 2000 my wife, Maisie, died and I have since met Wendy who I married on 7th September 2002.   I have now moved back to the Borders and we live in Lauder.

I have tried to include a selection of photographs, pen pictures and stories which speak about my life including family, work, and interests. It is unashamedly about the Paterson family but where else other than the Web can you make such a record. In an effort to maintain some balance I have also included links to many other interesting sites.    Please feel free to browse by clicking on the buttons below.
